3 Reasons that Dental Implants are Worth the Upgrade

The smile of someone with a dental implant

When you go from missing several teeth to a brand-new prosthetic, the difference is obvious. Eating, talking, and smiling will be much easier, making the choice to replace your teeth a simple one to make.

However, it’s not quite as obvious the difference that upgrading to dental implants will make, especially if you’ve already spent a fair amount of time with your current prosthetic. How big a deal could dental implants be?

As it turns out, the upgrade is more than worth it for quite a few reasons. Here’s are some examples.

1. Dental Implants Can Save You Money on Replacements

One of the primary merits of dental implants, especially when compared to other styles of tooth replacement, is their durability. For the most part, dentures and dental bridges endure for around a decade, usually in the realm of 10-15 years. While that can sound impressive, dental implants easily double that—a vast majority last over 30 years, and many survive for a lifetime if you take care of them well.

In the long-run, dental implants can save you from needing to replace your prosthetic, which can be an expensive and time-consuming process.

2. Dental Implants Can Provide Better Bite Strength

If you’ve spent any amount of time with dentures or a dental bridge, you might have noticed they can lack a bit in their bite strength. While this partially has to do with how well you’ve adapted to your new tooth, there are also structural limitations for what are these treatments are capable of.

Dental implants are by far the strongest method of tooth replacement, affording you the closest thing to the strength of a natural tooth.

3. The Ease of Cleaning Dental Implants

Whether you have dentures or a dental bridge, you probably have to spend more time on dental hygiene than you did beforehand. Both can be a bit tricky to clean, especially at first.

Cleaning a dental implant is essentially the same as any other tooth, which means that dental hygiene once you have one is incredibly simple.
